Ratha Sapthami or Surya Jayanthi worship details
Happy Ratha Sapthami or Surya Jayanthi !! February 15th, 2024 (Thursday) is Ratha Sapthami or Surya Jayanthi!!

It is on this day Lord Surya Narayana rides on HIS chariot with 7 horses towards northern celestial sphere marking the season changes to spring and warm weather. Harvest season starts from today in South India and in that region. The symbolic significance of the ratha and the seven horses reigned to it is that it represents the seven colours of the rainbow. The seven horses are also said to represent the seven days of a week starting with Sunday, the day of Sun god Surya. The chariot has 12 wheels, which represents the 12 signs (each of 30 degrees) of the Zodiac (360 degrees) and constituting a full year, named Samvatsara. The Sun’s own house is Leo (Simha) and he moves from one house to the next every month and the total cycle takes 365 days to complete. The Ratha Saptami festival seeks the benevolent cosmic spread of energy and light from the Sun God. It marks the birth of Lord Sri Surya Narayana and called Surya Jayanthi!!

It is on this day that Surya rided the chariot to kill Mandeha named Daithya.It is on this day that Vishwakarma prepared the Chariot for Rudradevaru to kill TripurasuraThe Sun Chariot has one wheel, seven horses, Aruna will be the sarathi, and on this Surya – tadantargatha Suryanarayana will be riding.It was on Vaivaswatha Manvantara Maghamasa Saptami that Surya rided the chariot.

Lord Surya Narayana or the sun god is the Arogya devada (Deity who blesses good health) – Arogyam bhaaskaraadichchEt. On Magha shudda saptami, on this day surya’s rays which are roga nivaraka (removal of dieases) will fall on arka patra (leaves). We have to keep seven arka patraas one each on our head, both arms, two knees, two foots. We should not use soap to clean the body but with these leaves only on this day. That is why those who does the shower (head to toe) snaana on this day will have disease free body. Further the sins done in 7 births of sapta janma also will be washed away by just doing head shower (snaana) of arka patre (leaves) or erukam ilai. On this day we have to sketch the figure of Chariot with 7 horses in front of our Tulasi Vrundavana or in the puja room and do puja of Lord Sri Surya Naaryaana.

We will celebrating Ratha Sapthami by chanting the stothrams and Slokas from various granthams to observe and worship Lord Sri Surya Narayana who an incarnation of our beloved Lord Sri MahaVishnu as follows.

Sri Krishna Avatharam completion details
Dear Devotees,

||Om Namo Narayanaya||

Sri Guruvayurappa Sharanam!!

Please accept my humble namaskarams. Today is the day, February 18th, 2023 (Saturday), 5000 years ago, Lord Sri Krishna completed HIS Sri Krishna Avatharam on earth. The story is Lord Sri Krishna was resting under a pipal tree in Prabhasatheetham (after fight among yadhavas which killed them all. A hunter named jara shot an arrow hitting Lord Sri Krishna's right foot. The hunter thought it was a deer. But, the arrow hit Lord Sri Krishna's foot. Blood was pouring out of HIS feet but it remained very calm and HE knew it was HIS own plan and HIS avatharam is getting completed. He walked for a distance and rested in a cave and completed HIS avatharam and returned back to Sri Vaikuntam. The hunter was none other than vali in Sri Rama Avatharam. In Sri Rama Avatharam, when he shot and killed vali with arrow from behind a tree, Vali was crying. Lord Sri Rama told him not to worry, in HIS next avatharam as Lord Sri Krishna, Vali will shoot an arrow and that will be reason for Lord Sri Krishna's avatharam to get completed.

Please find below video of the place where this incident happened and Lord Sri Krishna completed (poorthi aachu) HIS avatharam.

Shabari Jayanthi worship details
Dear Devotees, February 12th, 2023 (Sunday) (USA, North America and South America) and February 13th, 2022(Monday)(India, Asia, middle East, Europe and Australia) is Shabari Jayanthi!!

Shabari Jayanthi is celebrated to mark the day Mother Shabari attain moksha given by Lord Sri Rama in Sri Rama Avatharam.

Shabari was an ardent devotee of Lord Sri Rama who was serving as a servant in an ashramam near Pampa river in Kerala. She waited for Lord Sri Rama's arrival for a long time to see HIM. She attained perfection through meditation on Lord Sri Rama from very young age. She served many rishis in the ashram and when the rishis were about to leave the ashram, they told her Lord Sri Rama would come and visit her and hence advised her to stay in the ashram itself. She lived in the ashram alone for the long time. She used to collect flowers (lotuses and water lillies) and made malas every day and collects fruits every day, thinking that Lord Sri Rama would come to her hermitage every day. Lord Sri Rama and Sri Lakshmana came to Her ashramam when she was old and she had HIS darshan. Lord Sri Rama ate all the fruits tasted by Sabari (to check the Sweetness and to give Sweetest fruits to Lord Sri Rama). HE was so happy and accepted HER hospitality and said you can leave your body happily at your will. With Yogagni (sacrificial fire) raised from her body and her body was burnt into ashes immediately in front of Lord Sri Rama and She attained moksha and went to Sri Vaikuntam.

We will celebrating Shabari Jayanthi by chanting the following Sargam from Srimad Valmiki Ramayanam.

-->Please chant Srimad Valmiki Ramayanam -Aaranya Kandam (Canto 3) Sargam 74, describing the entire story of Lord Sri Rama and Lakshmana coming to Sabari's ashramam and blessing HER and she attaining moksha. It is a very very beautiful sargam to recite and auspicious to read mother Sabari story of meeting Lord Sri Rama and attaining moksha in front of HIM with HIS grace directly.

-->Please chant given in Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam given in Sri Mahabharatham which 1000 divine names or nama of Lord Sri MahaVishnu strung as a garland and offered to Lord Sri Krihna and Lord Sri Krishna Mokshna to Sri Bhishma Acharya.
